On the way, we had lunch at Le Chameniz inside the Le Chameniz hotel in Ifrane. Then, we drove to Erfoud, changed to 4 wheel drive jeeps to Merzouga. Merzouga is a small Moroccan town in the Sahara Desert, near the Algerian border. It’s known as a gateway to Erg Chebbi, a huge expanse of sand dunes north of town (Erg is large seas of dunes formed by wind-blown sand).
We checked into a Caravanserai Luxury Desert Camp.

It has double beds and a private bathroom with a shower. In our tent, we have 3 beds which is good for a large family. We were told they have heater and wi-fi, however, none of them worked.

The Sahara desert sand dunes are just next to our camp. We all rushed out to the top of the sand dunes for photos and viewing the sunset.

Then, we had dinner in their dinning room and the food were surprisingly good. After dinner, they also hosted a camp fire with music next to our tents.

After the show, we followed Wendy’s recommendation to do stargazing on top of the sand dunes. Due to remote location of this camp, we had seen more stars than we had ever seen before. It was an eventfully and exciting evening.
